The
company was founded in 2002 when Murray the basset
hound, then just a pup, developed an allergic reaction
to wheat products. His mommy, Ronnie, whipped up
some all natural treats to sustain the basset’s
insatiable appetite. Not only did the snacks cure
Murray’s irritation, but soon every dog in
the neighborhood was howling at the door for more
eats!
Now, Murray has a nose for both food and business.
The young entrepreneur (barely house broken) proposed
that they market these doggy delicacies under the
conditions that the company be named after himself
and Murray would be appointed chief taste-tester.
Fat Murray’s was built as a family business
and in 2003, Murray’s baby brother Barney
came aboard as Vice-President of Operations and
the business has continued to flourish … except
when the brothers decide to eat the inventory.
